The normal heating sequence
After a call for heat, the blower starts to clear the chamber and establish airflow. A safety switch must confirm airflow before the gas valve and igniter operate. The board then looks for a stable flame. Failure at any checkpoint can leave the blower running while the burner remains off.
Owner-safe observations
Confirm the battery is charged, the propane cylinder valve is open, and another propane appliance operates normally. Check the exterior intake and exhaust for snow, mud, insect nests, or a storage cover from outside the RV.
- Record the control-board flash pattern before cycling power.
- Listen for the blower, ignition clicking, and burner ignition in sequence.
- Check that interior return-air and warm-air openings are unobstructed.
- Perform only one normal thermostat reset after the blower stops.
What the observations suggest
A slow blower or a reset when the motor starts suggests low voltage or excessive voltage drop. Normal blower speed with no ignition sound may point toward the airflow switch, controls, or wiring. Repeated ignition followed by shutdown can involve fuel pressure, electrode position, grounding, or flame sensing.
These observations narrow the service request but do not justify bypassing a sail switch, limit switch, or gas valve.
Stop conditions
Turn the furnace off for propane odor, soot at the exhaust, a damaged vent, flame rollout, unusual banging, or signs that exhaust is entering the RV. Maintain working carbon-monoxide and propane alarms and leave gas-system measurements to qualified technicians.
