Recognize a system-wide voltage problem
Dim or pulsing lights, resets when a motor starts, several unrelated fault codes, and equipment that works on shore power but not while dry camping all point toward the battery or distribution system.
A battery monitor can show a normal-looking value while no large load is running. Voltage may collapse only when a leveling motor, furnace blower, water pump, or compressor starts.
Use this order
Turn off unnecessary loads and record the battery display before changing anything. Confirm that the battery disconnect is in its normal operating position. Connect the RV to an approved charging source and see whether the converter raises the battery voltage and the fault behavior changes.
- Check for an obviously discharged, swollen, leaking, or unusually hot battery.
- Confirm shore power and the converter are operating.
- Inspect only accessible terminals for looseness or corrosion after power is safely isolated.
- Note which load causes the voltage or lights to drop.
- Have the battery load-tested if it charges but quickly loses voltage.
Why appliance limits differ
Each controller has its own protection threshold. Truma identifies undervoltage below 10 volts for one Combi error, while Furrion troubleshooting emphasizes adequate voltage at the refrigerator under operating conditions. A single dashboard reading does not prove that the same voltage reaches every appliance.
Long cable runs, undersized conductors, loose grounds, aging disconnect switches, and corroded connections can create voltage drop between the battery and the load.
When electrical service is the next step
Repeated fuse failure, a hot connection, melted insulation, visible arcing, or unstable converter output requires qualified diagnosis. Do not replace a fuse with a larger rating or bypass a disconnect, breaker, or protective device.
