External checks in a useful order
Turn off generator-fed breakers and appliances. Confirm the coach has enough fuel; many installations intentionally place the generator pickup above the bottom of the main tank. Check accessible oil level only as described in the model manual.

- Use only the specified prime duration and start sequence.
- Check the air inlet and exhaust area for obvious blockage.
- Note whether the failure changes with a cold versus warm engine.
- Stop immediately for fuel leakage, exhaust entering the RV, or abnormal mechanical noise.
Avoid common dead ends
Do not keep cranking until the battery is exhausted, spray starting fluid into the intake, adjust the governor, or replace parts based only on a generic code list. Some shutdown codes describe what the controller observed, not the component that caused it.
If the generator runs only without load, a specific appliance, transfer equipment, output regulation, or engine performance under load may require diagnosis.

Provide the full model and specification, fault code, coach fuel level, ambient temperature, recent maintenance, how long it cranks, and whether the problem occurs only hot, cold, or under load.
